At La Cepada we have a real passion for gastronomy. Three basic ingredients form the recipe of our culinary philosophy: to constantly adapt to the customer’s demands; to have the best local Asturian products in our recipes, as we’re convinced that quality cooking starts with the product; and to devote meticulous care, attention, and patience to each of the dishes that we offer you.

The Best Asturian Cuisine

Our gastronomic selection is based on a great combination of traditional Asturian cuisine with some nice innovative touches, bringing you a wide range of dishes that will satisfy both those who seek the tastiest recipes ever and those who look for the most creative dishes.

The menu is largely based on local and seasonal products, but there are special dishes that will never be missing, such as pitu de caleya (village chicken), the region’s renowned cheeses and, of course, fabada in all its most attractive formats.

The excellent location of Cangas de Onís has benefitted the local gastronomy greatly. On the one hand, its proximity to the Asturian coast provides us with great quality fresh fish and seafood; on the other hand, there’s an abundance of meat, especially “Asturian red meat” (entrecôte, sirloin, chops), and cheeses such as Gamonéu, Cabrales and Beyos, served either as an appetizer or as a dessert.

Those who want to take some Asturian products home as souvenirs will find a wide variety of gastronomic shops in Cangas de Onís, as well as a Sunday market to buy the best cheeses. However, if you’re looking for some unforgettable memories, then, at La Cepada, we also offer gastronomy classes so that you can emulate the delicious creations you’ve tasted during your stay in Eastern of Asturias back at home – why not ask to join one?

El cenador de Los Canónigos

The exceptional views over Cangas de Onís and the Picos de Europa, which have become an integral part of the hotel’s decoration, make El Cenador de los Canónigos a unique, welcoming, and relaxing area where you can enjoy the excellent Asturian cuisine, created with the best quality products. It’s a truly multi-sensory experience that will pamper both the eyes and the palate.

Our restaurant, which has converted La Cepada into a gastronomic hotel, is a point of reference for the very latest Asturian cuisine, whose creations have been honoured with several prestigious awards.

A selection of cheeses from small cheesemakers, hake with spider crab stuffing with seafood sauce, roast lamb with baked potatoes and green salad, deer loin with mushrooms… the only difficult thing will be to have to choose from the wide range of appetizing dishes that we’ll offer you. Among the desserts on offer, you’ll be able to taste Asturian specialities such as the borrachinos, casadielles, frixuelos, joyueles, or, of course, our famous ice creams.

We’re also proud to have one of the best wine cellars in the region, with a complete selection of national and international wines, carefully chosen year after year to share with our customers. We love welcoming children at the Cenador de los Canónigos, and we like encouraging them to explore gastronomy too. To this end, we offer these future chefs a guided tour of the kitchen and give them a unique recipe book to take away. Moreover, if you’re travelling with kids, then you’ll be delighted to know that children’s menus are free.

Handmade Ice Creams Cremela

Those who love ice cream have another compelling argument for choosing La Cepada. For more than a decade, we’ve been real specialists in these delicious desserts, with our traditional recipe that uses fresh, high-quality local products, under a name that has already become a guarantee of quality, la Cremela.

A passion for ice cream has been closely linked to Hotel La Cepada right from its early stages, and it’s one of the projects that its director, José Manuel Martínez Salas, has been most involved with. Driven by the goal of offering the very best to the client, Salas broadened his training on the subject in specialized schools in Bologna and Zarautz, incorporating the skills of the most reputable professionals.

It’s a commitment to quality desserts that has borne fruit with the public’s great reception of the two La Cremela ice-cream parlours, in Cangas de Onís and Ribadesella, not to mention outstanding awards such as Best Artisan Sweet in Asturias, which we received for an ice cream creation known as Original Sin.

We have thirty of the most diverse and attractive flavours you could imagine, among which you can find rice pudding, strawberries and cream, cheesecake, matcha tea, and one dedicated to Gamoneo cheese, nuts, and honey. Most of them are made by taking advantage of the great variety of local products, such as apples and even chestnuts. These are always made with the very best quality products such as Domori chocolate coating, Asturian butter and cream, and Marcona almonds.
